About me

While pregnant with my daughter, I booked an antenatal class at the suggestion of a fellow pregnant friend. It was relaxed and really interesting, but also lots of fun, which I hadn’t expected! Going into labour understanding what was happening and how to make decisions along the way was empowering.

I knew I wanted to try breastfeeding, but after my daughter arrived, I found it to be very challenging – things only improved once we had enlisted the help of a wonderful IBCLC (that’s an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, for anyone not up to date on their milky acronyms). A keen interest – obsession? – with lactation support was born not long after my baby.

I’d worked as an editor in science education for close to a decade, but when I was made redundant nine months into my maternity leave I took it as a sign it was time to move on! I promptly began retraining in antenatal education and lactation support and gained a breastfeeding counsellor qualification in 2025. My long-term plan is to train as an IBCLC, and while I work quietly towards that in the background, I volunteer as an infant feeding specialist with a brilliant charity called Amma Birth Companions.

What makes me right for you?

I provide a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space for you to ask all the questions you need. It’s very important to me not to tell you what to do – my aim is to provide you with the information you need to make the decisions that are right for you!
